How to boot to a command prompt in Win10 ?

Tapping F8 or spacebar doesn't do anything ?

I want to boot to command prompt only. I need to rename my user folder, in an attempt to get it named correctly, after the clean upgrade decided to drop the last character, which now gives me a girls name.. lol

Doing it within Windows gives me an Access Denied.. Doing it as a local account, gives me an Access Denied.

Was going to give it a shot outside the OS. and at the recovery prompt, using just the REN command.

Then booting back in, (ignoring the plethora of errors) mess around a little in the registry, HOPEFULLY have my Microsoft account sync itself back to the correct path, then go for another clean install.

    :)

Command prompt boot, which disk to select

    Ciao,

I'm Ugo, a Microsoft Independent Advisor willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Regarding your question, the screenshot you shared usually pops up when there is a typo in the command, so it shows exact switches for that specific command.

    Please be sure you typed:

    list disk

    exactly as above.

Please let me know if this helped somehow.

    Ciao

    Ugo
