How to completely reinstall or downgrade Windows 10 apps (no PowerShell)

    Hi,

we have a problem at workplace. We have Windows Store disabled by group policy but somehow some apps (Windows Calculator in particular) try to update anyway.

The actual problem on some PCs is: Windows Calculator stop working. It just open and crash immediately.

We tried everything, the final solution is to reinstall the image (that contain the full working apps), Windows 10 version 1809).

What I need is a PERMANENT solution that resolve the problem. I want to COMPLETELY remove the app (the PowerShell command just "uninstall" it but leaves the folders and files under C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\*PackageName*) so we can download it again from the Store.

Using the PowerShell command to "remove" it and "reinstall" it doesn't resolve the problem, the Store detect the app already installed even with the "uninstallation" with PowerShell.

There is a way to delete files and folders (like a normal software removed with "Programs and Features") and reinstall it from scratch or do a full repair or a downgrade of the app?

    What we don't want:

    - PowerShell commands "Remove-AppxPackage" and "Add-AppxPackage": in this case (and this case only) they don't do anything, the problem persist.

    - Create new user or redo the user profile: already done, doesn't work.

    - Downgrade or upgrade Windows 10: absolutely no. Not for now, we're just migrating to version 1809.

    - DISM and SFC: already done those command and don't work.

    - Reinstall the pc: this solves the problem but we can't spend so much time in this for a single app that stops working randomly.

Also, here's the error code from Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: Calculator.exe, version: 10.1904.31.0, time stamp: 0x5cca3785

    Hi Fernando,

These are the steps to resolve the issue with Windows Store app itself. For better assistance, we suggest creating a new thread about Windows 10 apps installation.

How to completely reinstall or downgrade Windows 10 apps (no PowerShell)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond How to completely reinstall or downgrade Windows 10 apps (no PowerShell) :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
