How to configure taskbar to highlight open applications, like in win7?

In the taskbar, Win10 only highlights the active application icon. The other icons look the same, regardless if the application is open or not.

Is there an option to make all open, running applications highlight in the taskbar like in Win7? Thanks!

    :)

FILE EXPLORER QUICK ACCESS AND TASKBAR

your picture does not look abnormal, those with a line under them are applications you have open, the highlighted icon is the active window.

file explorer does not appear to have a line under it, Microsoft internet explorer has a line under and is highlighted because you are using it.

where are you seeing a quick access pin?

every application you open will appear on the taskbar (as always) while the application is open and will go when you close it, unless it is pinned to the taskbar.

you have the snipping tool, store, one I don't recognise, edge and file explorer pinned to the taskbar, they will stay there even after the application is closed but the line beneath the icon will go.

  3. Multi-screen launch application on active screen taskbar

    Hello,

On windows 10, I configure taskbar to have on all screens, thanks to a parameter in taskbar settings.

But, I would like to launch applications or any icon that I click on the same screen that I'm using taskbar.

    How to achieve this ?

Why it's not configurable somewhere on win 10 ?

    Thanks for your help

How to configure taskbar to highlight open applications, like in win7?

In my taskbar the other applications that are open have a white line running across the bottom of the icon to distinguish it from apps that are not open. I agree that this could easily be missed if you did not know it was there.

Oh thank you! My screen wasn't centered and wasn't showing the leftmost pixel, so the icons all looked identical. Auto-center function on screen fixed it. I wouldn't have figured this out without your help thanks!! And yes it could easily be more obvious!
