  1. How to delete UpdateOrchestrator sense it will not allow me to disable it

I am the administrator and solo user of my computer system, and even after uninstalling and reinstalling Windows 10 I am not allowed to disable Update Orchestrator - Why?

I may be lagging behind in computer technology, but I am not computer ignorant; which means if I can write programs I the old languages of COBOL or RPG, even in old DOS Basic and 'C' code; I can still tell you the difference between Binary and Hexadecimal.

It is bad enough and very inconvenient to have to disable Windows Update ever two day, only because even set to manual Windows Update will automatically begin updating - without my interaction to update; I have a set time and day to do all updates once a week, which is appropriate for a non-business computer system.

    :)

  3. Administrator account not allowed to disable UpdateOrchestrator Reboot task after latest update

    Did you use

    1) cmd with admin rights =>

    2) psexec64 cmd.exe

    before the erroring command?

I assume you did though. What does it say in Task Scheduler (admin again) under

Task Scheduler Library => Microsoft => Windows

The tasks are listed there in alphabetic order. Is UpdateOrchestrator listed? If not, then UpdateOrchestrator is not causing your restarts. Maybe look Event Log to identify which task is doing restarts in your configuration.

  4. How to delete UpdateOrchestrator sense it will not allow me to disable it

Administrator account not allowed to disable UpdateOrchestrator Reboot task after latest update

    DebayanGupta,

Sir, you are a saviour! Using your advice I was able to disable the
UpdateOrchestrator/REBOOT task completely. This solution should be spread to all forums, because there are a lot people bothered by this insane behaviour of MS Win. I will write a summary about this and paste in on few forums to help them.

One addition to your guide, I used PSTools from

    PsTools - Windows Sysinternals

which I find more legit/safe than NSudo, unless you read the source yourself. My summary is below:

    ----

    Install pstools

    PsTools - Windows Sysinternals

    Extract the tool package

    Open cmd with admin rights

Use either psexec (32 bit system) or psexec64 (64 bit system)

    psexec64 cmd.exe

In the new cmd window run

    SCHTASKS /Change /TN "Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot" /DISABLE

    Results in

INFO: Scheduled task "Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot" has already been disabled.

SUCCESS: The parameters of scheduled task "Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot" have been changed.

Also run this to disable access to above setting

    icacls "%WINDIR%\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot" /inheritance:r /deny "Everyone:F" /deny "SYSTEM:F" /deny "Local Service:F" /deny "Administrators:F"

    Results in

    processed file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Reboot

Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files

You can check the Task Scheduler (with admin rights) for Reboot task; it is disabled and access is denied. Also check that the Schedule Scan and USO_Broker_Display tasks have "Wake the computer to run this task" unchecked in "Conditions" tab.

Done! And you again own your own computer which you paid for How to delete UpdateOrchestrator sense it will not allow me to disable it :) FU MS. Thanks to DebayanGupta at
