    How to delete $WINDOWS. ~BT and $WINDOWS. ~WS


    I'm having a hard time deleting these. Can you help me with it?

    Can't delete $Windows.~WS

    Hi,

    This folder is created by Windows, during the upgrade process and you may delete this folder.

    Some times this will create an error when trying to delete this folder and I suggest you to restart the computer, sign in with Administrator account and follow the below steps again:

    Right-click on Start button to open the Win X Menu. Select Command Prompt (Admin).

    Now copy-paste the following and hit Enter to delete the contents of $Windows.~WS directory

    takeown /F C:\$Windows.~WS\* /R /A

    icacls C:\$Windows.~WS\*.* /T /grant administrators:F

    rmdir /S /Q C:\$Windows.~WS\

    I deleted $Windows~.BT folder that was propably Windows 10 files. How to recover?

    Hello,

    So about two weeks ago I deleted a $Windows~.BT folder (through the cmd). Now I know that was Windows 10 files ready for install.

    How can I download it again? I'm sure I need to reinstall some update. But which?

    Indeed it is. The BT and the WS folders are the same thing, the feedstock for the Windows upgrade. If your copy of Win10 is activated, then you can run disk cleaner to get rid of the windows.old and the $windows --BT folders. The $windows---WS folder does NOT clean up by the disk cleaner. After a few reboots, I just deleted the folder after backing it up (just in case) and nothing has happened in the past day so looks OK to delete.
