    How to Delete Windows.old folder.


    Hi, Community,


    I have updated a windows10 via Digital key after that window is starting downloading and the windows are updated without losing anything in my system, I have seen there is no space in the C drive, when I checked I found there are folder is created and it's consuming almost 30GB space, I am not sure if I delete the folder, is there any possibility that my old data in C Drive going to lost. that's I do not delete the folder. windows.old


    Please let me know the safest way to delete the WINDOWS.OLD folder without lost my existing data and programs installed in C drive.

    Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

    *Confused How to Delete Windows.old folder. :confused:

    Will I be forever stuck with these unnecessary folders? *Oh Well How to Delete Windows.old folder. :eek:hwell:

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink How to Delete Windows.old folder. ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
