    How to disable cortanas web search?


    I just reinstalled and theres no option in her settings to turn off the web search she does when you search for files on your pc and such.

    How else could I turn it off if its not listed in her settings?

    This does not stop the search bar from opening up and harassing me!

    Although Cortana can be "turned off" using this methodology... it still "runs" upon startup, in the background (check your task manager) after restart... Therefore: since the original question / issue in this post was - how to DISABLE Cortana - please answer
    the question asked and explain how do you DISABLE ("truly" disable) Cortana from running at all ? As I for one; don't need a resource hog that is not used in any capacity, running on my system. I'm sure there are numerous others that want Cortana DISABLED
    and not merely "turned off" !

    How to disable cortanas web search?

    If you are on W10 Pro you can use a gpedit.

    Press *Start + R type in gpedit.msc then drill down to
    Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Search


    Find the three settings shown below and change to Enabled. restart to apply

    No problem. Here's the registry equivalent to what Dude suggested. Unzip and double click to merge into the registry

    How to disable cortanas web search?

    You should be able to turn off "Search online and include web results" in Cortana settings. Just search for something (anything) and then click on the cog.

    Are you missing this option? What does it show?
