    How to disable hardware acceleration?

I seem to get these green pixels whenever I watch youtube videos (using firefox). Did some searches and a lot of people says to disable hardware acceleration, not sure if this is the case but figured I try it. Most tutorial on how to do this is either windows 7 or 8 and I can't seem to find how to do this for windows 10. Can someone walk me through how to do this?

    Thanks

    :)

More info is needed to help you like what GPU you have and what browser you're using. Fill in your system specs by following the link in my signature.

Had the same problem and tried all kinds of updates and reinstalls. Finally I fixed it! Typed in Troubleshooting which brought me the control panel. Look to the left and you will see "view all" click on it. When you click view all you will see the whole troubleshooting list. Double click hardware and devices and run the trouble shooter. Mine said something about an out of date driver but ignore that and click next and it will continue to check for problems. It then found "failed to detect hardware changes" it then applied the fix. I am now finally playing videos without green or black screens.!

  7. Had the same issue, it is caused by a bad driver, usually provided by default in Windows 10.
It is better to install the last working driver for 7/8.1, since there are other problems as well.

  8. How to disable hardware acceleration?

I believe this is true, but for the life of me I can't prevent Windows Update from updating to the latest broken Nvidia driver. Even after disabling driver updates by the two methods shown in this forum, WU reverts to forcing driver updates after awhile. Shoot, I even had it update the drive the very next check for updates after setting it not too a couple of times.

  9. Well there are 3 steps, that has to be taken to disable driver updates properly. *Nerd

    1. Disable driver updates (input into CMD as admin):

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching" /v "SearchOrderConfig" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    2. Set Windows Updates to Notify (then uninstall the driver, check for updates, for WU to find it again):

    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /v "AUOptions" /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f

    3. Use Windows tool to exclude unwanted drivers, otherwise Windows Updates will not install.

The green screen in videos happens with Flash, not video drivers. You have disable Flash Hardware acceleration in its setting when you right click on the video. If it happens with HTML5 videos, then you have to disable the web browser Hardware acceleration.

This has been an issue since 10240 came out. It is happening with both AMD & NVidia GPU's. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is still on the bug list when I pulled down 10525, which brought other headaches.

Thanks for the help guys, I managed to turn off hardware acceleration in firefox. No green pixels but the frame drops significantly, even when watching 60fps youtube (Feels like 10fps). Re-enable hardware acceleration since I'd rather have green pixels than laggy videos.

Thanks, this seemed to fix everything, been watching some videos at 1080p 60fps and no green pixels or fps drop!
