Windows 10: How to enable Cortana on a local account?

This is what I did:
I first went to Search the web and Windows. I gave Cortana my name and she instructed me to do a MS account. I created another account and cranked up User Account Control settings to super strict. Then, I logged in to that account, and did the setup. I entered in my info and a UAC prompt came up. I clicked no and voila, I was a semi MS account with Cortana

 

Bing IS your Microsoft account. It is all one account you use, either to sign in to onedrive, outlook.com, the computer, or anything. You can also set up your computer login account to require Pin only, so you don't have to type in a complicated MS password all the time.

Don't like MS accounts? Don't use one and miss out on some of the features that come with it. Or use Apple. MS did say very specifically some features are linked to a MS account before you upgraded. You read and accepted the license terms before upgrading. Remember?

 

Apparently, with the big update in November, you will be able to use Cortana with a local account. Some of the people testing the insider previews have already got that facility.
