How to find Wireless Devices Physical Locations on a Network?

I'm looking for a windows program/app (not linux) or method to find the physical locations of wireless devices on an AP I have setup on my network.

I have a suspicion there are people sharing devices with others that are not paying their monthly fee. I need definitive proof prior to foolishly accusing.

For example, the setup is similar to this:

    User1_Dev1 -- IP 192.***
    User1_Dev2 -- IP 192.***

    User2_Dev1 -- IP 192.***

If "User1" shares their device with "User2", since "User1" is paid for the month the device would not be "blocked". This is in a scenario where "User2" has not paid. "User2"'s devices would be "blocked".

My naming scheme is much better than this, just giving and idea of how I have them listed on the backend. I use a Ubiquiti UniFi Outdoor+ AP. It has a great backend infrastructure. I can see signal strength (among many other descriptors) which gives me a decent idea of how far away or where a device is located. This is how I came to this theory.

I found a thread that pointed me to "MoocherHunter", this is a linux program that I think requires purchasing the main program then booting from an ISO via CD/DVD-ROM. This is a dead end. I would like something that works while logged into Win10x64.

    :)

    Vista or XP?

You need to go in and delete the network. Then it will pick it up again, and ask you to enter the key again.

On Vista, you do this by going into Networking and Sharing Center. The click on Customize, then click on Merge or delete network locations. Find the SSID of the router in the list, and delete it.

On XP, I believe you have to go to Network Connections, then right click on your Wireless Adaptor. Go to Status, and there should be a button to Manage Wireless Networks, that should take you to where you need to be to delete the network.

Change Wireless Network Connection Priority Order in Windows 10

Hello Denis, How to find Wireless Devices Physical Locations on a Network? :)

The command in step 2 of Option Two should show your wireless networks listed in priority order. Top of the list is higher.

    wireless network adapter problem

    Hi,

    Let's try these troubleshooting steps:

    Method 1:

    • Open the list of available networks by clicking the network icon in your task bar.
    • Locate the network name on the list and right-click or press and hold on it.
    • Click or tap “Forget this network” to delete the profile from your computer.
    • Once done, reboot your device and then reconfigure the connection to the network.

    Method 2:

    • Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command Prompt.
    • In Command prompt type the following (Replace Wireless Profile Name with your profile name): netsh
wlan delete profile name="Wireless Profile Name"
    • Press the enter key and reboot your device, once done reconfigure your wireless network profile.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.
