Hello,

So I recently got this new problem when I am not able to open Start, Menu and Task Manager. And if I tried to use the Run command to open settings (which would be ms-settings:), it would say File system error -2018374635.

I tried watching YouTube tutorials but in order to fix some of the problems I need to either open Settings or Task Manager which I am not able to open. I even tried to open my pictures and videos but again it would say File system error -2018374635

I am not able to provide a screenshot since I am not able to use the Search Bar.

To me, I think my Task Bar is completely destroyed because if I right click on it and open its settings, it wouldn't do anything and not able to open Start.

I even had an app like Skype would say it has some Javascript error when I open it and I am not able to change my PC's volume (But I am assuming it relates to this Microsoft problem).

I then went on to this Microsoft site and found one user who had the same issue as me but for the File system error -2018374635 error only. I followed the steps which includes me doing the Powershell stuff, but still didn't work.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, I'm trying to update a PC from windows 7 to windows 10, everything works fine except that I cannot access display settings. When I write desk.cpl on Task Manager I get this File System error (-2018374635), I tried using sfc /scannow in CMD and it said that errors were found and fixed, but the problem still remains.
Any idea what that error is? Thx in advance

Hello John,

Thanks for giving me more steps.

So unfortunately the steps did not work.

When creating a new local account it just changed the name of the account I was already using.

And for the Windows Recovery Environment, the steps did not work as well.

So as I logged back in to inform you, the same System Restore error popped up and said "System Restore did not complete successfully."

But it did provide an option saying "Run System Restore" But I wasn't very affirmative if it was necessary to click it.

I am terribly sorry for having you going through my trouble it's just that things won't work.
