  1. How to fix "provide administrator access" notification problem?

Long story short, I used HP chat support to fix a battery problem but the technician messed up some settings on my laptop (HP spectre x360 w/ Windows 10). Now whenever I want to download or move a file to the desktop, or rename or delete a file on my desktop, I get a notification saying I need to "provide administrator access." And when I click "Ok" I can go about doing it.

I tried changing my UAC settings and restarting but nothing is working. My last resort is to just factory reset my laptop but I was hoping someone here would have some advice. Thanks!

  2. (SOLVED/CLOSED)looking for help with Android phone CONSTANT wireless signal notification

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

  3. Notifications

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

What happens when you click on Notification Icon in system tray?

Try to access the Notification Icon in system tray post 4-5 Minutes on system startup and check if it launch. Hope things are loading on background, when you try to access it.

Also, suggest you try the below mentioned steps to fix any issue with system files, when you access the desktop screen:

    • Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.

    • Click File > Run New Task

    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”

    • Type CMD

    • Type or copy/paste the following commands at the CMD prompt:

      dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

      sfc /scannnow
Reboot the system and check if the issue still occurs.

Hope this will address your query.

How to fix "provide administrator access" notification problem?

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
