  1. How to fix unsupported UEFI Partition to install windows 10 update?

    Hi,

I am attempting to update to the latest version of Windows 10 but the installer claims that I have an unsupported disk layout for UEFI partition and I was wondering how to fix this. Disk 0 in the picture is my secondary drive I use for extra storage and Disk 1 is my main drive with Windows 10 installed on it. The System reserved partition is for some reason on Disk 0 along with other reserved partitions when they should be on the Disk 1. Is there a way to move that over to the Disk 1 and will that allow me to update to the latest version of Windows 10?

    :)

    Download Windows 10 TH/RS

For the convenience of not having to use the installation media for startup repairs. But you should be able to use your installation media to do whatever the recovery partition does(including startup repairs). AFAIK. I could be wrong about that though.
I'm not sure if I follow you there. But if you clean install Windows 10 there will be at least 3 partitions.
    • (EFI System Partition)
    • (Primary Partition)
    • (Recovery/OEM Partition)
If you install from an OEM installation media there might(should?) be 4 partitions. Since there might(should?) be a Recovery partition and an OEM partition.

Unsupported Disk Layout for UEFI firmware

The easiest way to get the disk set up properly is to make sure UEFI is set to boot in UEFI mode. Safe mode can be on or off, it doesn't matter. Boot the computer from a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive. Go through the steps for a custom install. When you get to the screen listing disks and partitions, delete all the partitions on the drive you want to install Windows to, it's probably going to be drive 0. Highlight the remaining unallocated space and click Next. Let Windows setup completely install Windows 10.

Once Windows 10 is installed and you can boot into it, then reboot the computer from the Macrium Reflect Rescue Drive. Restore ONLY the C: drive Windows partition from you image over the top of the Windows 10 partition that the new setup created. Run the Fix Windows boot problems utility in Macrium Reflect after you restore, and you should be good to go.

Installing Windows 7 in UEFI Issues

Update: I just upgraded to Windows 10 (installed with UEFI USB) and I had to enable Hot Plug on the ports that my drives are connected to for Windows to recognize them.
