Yes, you can access your internal drives by booting from the external hard disk, by changing the boot order of the "bootable" devices on your computer.

Formatting a dual boot system with windows 10 and ubuntu

In Windows 10, you can easily format a hard drive or a partition by accessing Computer Management. For us to assist you, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

• Press the Start button.
• Type Computer Management.
• On the left side, click on Disk Management under Storage.
• Locate the drive that you want to format.
• Once located, right-click on the drive and choose Format.

If the hard drive has not been formatted with the steps that we have provided above, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your hard drive. Some hard drive requires a software that you'll need to use just to format it.

Format Hard drive

I am having difficulty with formatting my hard drive. I purchased a new computer and want to scrub this one before exchanging it. I used the Recovery Tab on the control panel and it starts to run, but continues to give me message (a problem was encountered
and no changes were made) of incomplete ability to perform task. I do not want to trade this computer with my files intact.

Any suggests would be helpful. I am trying to format the main hard drive on the computer and leave the operating system intact. I have administrative privileges on the compute (as it is my personal laptop).
