Windows 10: How to get rid of the line under the taskbar icons ?

Discus and support How to get rid of the line under the taskbar icons ? in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; The line is there to make it prominent that the program is open.     How to get rid of the line under the taskbar icons ?


    The line is there to make it prominent that the program is open. Under WIndows 7, the whole square was coloured. I think I prefer the line.

    The line uses the same colour as the tiles on the Start menu, you could choose an unobtrusive one.
    Settings > Personalisation > Colours

    How to get rid of the line under the taskbar icons ?

    If you get a chance to look at a Macintosh computer you will notice on their Dock that open programs have a dot under them. Who stole from who in that feature/idea?

    Basically, they are there to show which program is open on which Virtual Desktop. Too sloppy of a hack to get rid of. Live with it.
