Windows 10: How to I get a warning before Windows 10 updates are installed?

Recently, I frequently find myself returning to both my home laptop (Windows 10) and my work laptop (Windows 10 professional), only to find all my programs closed. I have since figured out, that this is caused by autoupdates, as is visible from the event viewer.





I used to get a warning before updates are installed. As of version 1803 (Windows 10, winver.exe), I just return after the night to find my laptop rebooted and all my programs closed, giving me no chance to prepare for it; For instance, I usually rely on the program staying open to remind me of where to continue after the night. If I know a reboot is needed, I can make a separate note about it, but I usually won't if I don't expect it.


Worse loss of productivity can be had, if I need some computation running for a prolonged time, and the reboot kills it in the middle.


Is there some way to get the warnings back?

Is it normal not to get warnings?

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
