How to I install Windows 10 without it moving my partitions around?

I have 27 partitions on my hdd that need to be numbered and ordered exactly as they are, I don't know how I can install windows 10 without them being moved and touched.

I can see in Grub2 menu that before installing windows 10, i can boot from, lets say 'Operating system (on /dev/sda18/)' After installation it boots from sda26 or something in the twenties instead of sda18. And now i cant boot into there anymore.

I want windows 10 to install partitions on sda28+, how can i make it install that way?

Using windows 10 iso btw, if you didnt already know. And sry for using non windows terms like sda28 instead of whatever windows calls it, it was the most simple way of explaining it.

    :)

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

Move Win7 64 image from a partition NTFS to a new drive

EDIT: After reading your first post again, is there any reason that you would now need GPT? Are you just trying to move the windows install to a new disk or is there a new motherboard involved?

If you are already booting to an NTFS partition, then it makes me wonder if after copying to the new drive, the partition isn't getting marked as Active.

Following the same steps I posted above for startup repair, you can get to a command prompt and use diskpart to see if this is the case.

Code: In the command prompt: diskpart list disk select disk 0 (disk number may be different if you have other disks connected.) list partition select partition 0 (partition number number may vary, but you want to see the boot partition which is the same as your windows partition according to the screenshot on the OP) detail partition (This should have Active: Yes or No. If it says no, since we have the partition selected, you can just use the following command in diskpart) active[/quote]

Partition SSD during windows 10 install

I'm assembling a new PC and running a fresh windows 10 install. I'd like to know how to partition the ssd into 2 separate partitions during the windows install (I'm using a bootable usb drive to install Windows).

I want to know if I need to input specific settings for those partitions or if it's all automatic?

I need one partition for Windows on and another for my documents. The ssd has 960gb size.

So I'm guessing it has about 60gb over-provisionning. I could leave out a bit more, but it probably doesn't matter that much

Follow this instruction hope so you can install window 10 successfully,
Open EaseUS Todo Backup. Choose Clone from the left sidebar. Click Disk Clone. Choose your current hard drive with Windows 10 installed on as the source, and choose your SSD as the target. Check to Optimize for SSDClick Next.
If anyone face printer not activated error code 20 go on this.
