    How to install Windows on a 4TB HDD without losing 2TB from it being in MBR?


    I'm trying to install Windows 10 onto a 4TB harddrive by plugging it into my computer, moving the Win10 ISO files onto the drive, then activating it in DiskPart. However, I am unable to activate the partition unless the drive is in MBR format, but if I do that, 2TB of the HDD becomes unusable when you get Windows working on it.

    Is there a way to install Win10 on a 4TB HDD, without converting to MBR and losing 2 TB of storage?

    Hello,

    I have a new Seagate 4tb hdd and gigabyte H110M motherboard (UEFI) in a desktop computer. When I install windows 10 x64 it only shows up as 2tb. I have converted the hdd to gpt partitioning (as apparently this is what I need to do to show whole hdd) but
    when I install win 10 it converts it back to mbr and still only shows it as 2tb. What do I need to do so windows installs in gpt format?

    Problems with 4TB HDD

    Only if booting from it otherwise you can use mbr on a 4tb for storage.

    I want to install windows 7 on my 4TB hard drive. Here's what I run into. I run the Windows 7 install, click the 4TB disk and it tells me I can't install it on the GPT partition. Is this because my motherboard isn't UEFI compatible or can I do it without this?

    - Motherboard A960D+ AM3+ biostar (I don't think it's UEFI compatible and I think that's what i need to make this work?)
    - I formatted it and I can put data on the 4TB hard drive at the moment, but I can't install Windows 7 on it.

    All the 4TB is recognizable, but I can't install Windows 7 on it.

    Please HELP!!!
