Windows 10: how to link gmail and windows 10 mail app and sign into xbox app with error 0x80070002

so this was after my files got deleted. I opened up the game bar and saw that i wasn't signed in. when i tried to, it wouldn't let me. i went to the Xbox app and it said this:

we can't sign you in right now. Try again later.

(0x409) 0x80070002

I then decided to open the mail app and It said that I had to fix errors with my Gmail account but it wouldn't let me. so then I signed out of Gmail and tried to sign back in. it didn't let me. I kept clicking on "sign in using Google" but it just kept loading and taking me back to the "sign in" account selection screen. the same happened when I tried doing the same thing using settings.

Mail App and Gmail


I've always had my gmail account linked to the Windows 10 mail app, however the last update I did the mail app is a complete mess and will not show my gmail messages. I've deleted and relinked the account but it's not linking properly at all. I was able to successfully link a yahoo email account just not the gmail.

Is this a known issue since the last update, and is there a workaround fix?

Based on some quick research there may be two options that may help resolve this. . .

1. Enable the 2-Step Verification functionality and security feature with your Gmail account and then use the 2-Step Verification to verify and trust the Windows Mail app to have access to your Gmail account
   
2. Enable and use the Less Secure Apps functionality by turning that ON and using your usual Gmail account password with the Windows Mail app to authenticate
