Android phone as video camera not recognized

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

How are you trying to connect the Android phone with your computer?

The Windows Camera app is designed in a way that it will recognize internal or external web camera. It would not work with an Android phone’s camera. It has to be a web camera not a camera from the device.

The Android phone’s camera can be used as a webcam but it will only work on the required applications.

To connect the Android phone’s camera with your computer using the DroidCam, please follow the steps:

    Set up using Wi-Fi.

    1. Connect both the devices with the Wi-Fi network.

    2. Open
DroidCam on the Android phone and make note of the Wi-Fi IP and
    DroidCam port.

    3. Open
    DroidCam client on the computer.

    4. Select the
Wi-Fi tab, enter the Wi-Fi IP and DroidCam Port.

    5. Select
Audio and Video and Click on Start.

Please get back to us with the results.

  3. Android phone as video camera not recognized

I have installed DroidCam client on my desktop and the app on my Android phone. The camera is working properly and is visible as a device in Skype but it is not recognized by the Windows Camera app or another app I tried (Essential Video Recorder). I have
checked the driver for the phone and the camera privacy setting. What am I missing???

How to make Android phone as video camera recognized?

Windows 10 doesn't recognize my Android phone on Wi-Fi direct

Further more investigation show that while it hangs installing the device it probably looks for a direct Wi-Fi connection , when I go to wireless networks it shows me the direct connection name , The problem is I don't know the password *Rolleyes (maybe it's the pin number I supposed to get? so the module could be bugged in the Android cellphone - customized ROM).
I tried the 8 chars at end of connection name (SSID) X360PPD9 but it's not the password.
    Any suggestions ?
