Sorry if the title is confusing... I really don't know how to describe this in words, which is why I couldn't really even google the problem.

Whenever I try to do something that requires me to browse for a file, and it opens up the windows explorer (for example, attaching a file to an email, or saving a file somewhere), the sidebar that has Quick Access and all your other shortcuts is always automatically set somewhere in the middle. I'd actually prefer it to just always start at the top where Quick Access is -- that would make more sense for me. But for some reason, it is always somewhere in the middle, and I have to always scroll all the way up to the top to get to my Quick Access and recent folders.

I attached a picture to show what I mean.

Is this just an idiosyncrasy of Windows Explorer in Windows 10, or is there actually some setting somewhere that controls this behavior?

    Quick Access Crashes Explorer

    Hi Bill,

Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane which helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used. However, if you're having issues with Quick Access, you can try to disable and enable it. To disable Quick
    Access, follow these steps:

    • Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
    • Click on File Explorer Options.
    • Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
    • Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
    • Click Apply an OK.
    • Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.

  3. Problem with Win 11 Quick Access sidebar in Explorer

    Hi there!

After updating my win 10 to win 11, I have encountered a problem regarding quick access in explorer.

Before the update, the quick access sidebar (on the left of explorer) used to be opened already. I had pinned my most used folders there so It was easy to navigate in folders.

After the update, The quick access part in the sidebar is always hidden and does not show up for 10 to 15 seconds. This makes the navigation much tedious for me.

I am also attaching the photos as to clarify the problem:

In the First attachment, you can see that the quick access sidebar is not yet loaded .

In the second attachment, you can see that the quick access sidebar is loaded but it takes much time to load.

The same problem is there when I open quick access using Win + E.

    Looking forward to community reply.

    Thanks.

items accidentally removed under quick access sidebar

Hi, if Quick Access is proving inconvenient I can suggest 2 or 3 other ways of making recent lists available across a range of dialogues, not just file explorer itself.
