    How to make Windows App Shortcuts on Windows Desktop


    I wish to make shortcuts to Windows Apps on my Desktop.I have found them in the protected Windows Apps folder. I have taken ownership so I can view and run the files. I have copied required DLL files into a Windows Path folder.Under Windows Desktop usual rules of running a program, they should run...But, the EXE files still do not run.ie Microsoft Photos & the new 'Snipping Tool' actually "ScreenSketch.exe".How do I make Windows Apps launch from shortcuts on my Windows Desktop?

    Desktop shortcuts disappearing

    One of the computers i maintain has a few of the desktop shortcuts disappearing now and then. It runs windows 7, and has a shitload of shortcuts on the desktop.

    Any idea what might cause this?

    How to pin app shortcut to desk top?

    Hi,

    I suggest you to follow below steps to change pin the apps on the desktop screen and check if it helps.

    Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

    • Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
    • Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
    • Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
    • Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
    • Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

    Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

    • Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
    • Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.

    How to make Windows App Shortcuts on Windows Desktop

    Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

    Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

    Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

    Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.
