Windows 10: How to make Windows not use a Drive Letter?

Hello. I am using a software called SSHFS-Win Manager to be able to connect to SSH on the network. This software uses a fuse driver which uses for example: D drive for fuse (though not showing up in File Explorer) and E drive for the files in SSH connection. (It uses Drive D because it is the first one available, unfortunately, Windows does the same thing to mount ISOs and USBs to the first drive letter available) The thing is that when Windows mount ISOs or USBs to D:, my connection is not working. Is there any way to make Windows not use a drive letter? or Is there any way to make Windows to connect to an SSH connection on the network (with the hostname, not IP address) every time Windows starts, or go on trying to connect if the connection fails? (I am also open to software suggestions) Truthfully, I couldn't connect to SSH by using Windows Add Network Location, as it only accepted FTP, and I didn't want to use that, so I am using a software to connect to SSH. help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.

I would like to inform you that the issue might have occurred due to some changes made to your computer.

I suggest you to try changing the drive letter of the drive and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to change the drive letter:

• Press Windows + X keys and click on Disk Management.
• Right click on the external drive and click on Change Drive letter and paths.
• Click on Change the button.
• Under Assign the following Drive letter, select the desired drive letter.
• Click Ok to save changes.

Cannot change drive letter

I request you to try the steps below:

• Press "Windows" + "R" on the keyboard.
• Type "diskmgmt.msc" and press Enter key.
• Now right click on the drive and select Change drive letter or path.
• Select the drive and click on Change.
• Now select the drive letter and click on OK.
