  1. How to move Windows 10 to a new, secondary drive?

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well.

I wanted to ask how to move my current Windows 10 operating system to a new SSD I just got, but I'm very confused by the internet results I get because they don't usually fall under the unique situation I'm in. Also sorry for the formatting since I'm using mobile.

    1) I am planning on running my HDD (the one I'm using now in which my current Windows 10 is installed) along with my new SSD, both of which will be inside the computer case (connected internally). Most search results assume I'm going to be using the new drive and discarding the old one.

    2) I want to only move my operating system into the new drive without migrating the whole thing. My HDD is 1TB in total size and only around 500GB short of being full and cannot migrate everything to the new SSD since I only hve a 500GB SSD. I'm mostly going to move my games into this new drive but that can wait until I've moved my OS.

    3) I have read multiple times that the best shot is to use Windows Media Creation Tool to create an installer on a thumb drive then use that to install on the new drive. I'm willing to do this if this is the only way but I believe there are ways to migrate entire drive contents and systems to another drive and so I thought it's not hard to think that this can be true as well for select data in the drive/s.

If you guys know of any easy way, please do ask me and I'll respond and I'll try my best to follow! Thank you!

  2. Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
