  1. How to only allow access to an Excel sheet?

    Hi all,

Not sure if i'm in the right place, but perhaps you can help me out.

On our fire station we have a presence sheet we now fill in by hand. We like to digitize it and be the only thing able to open on a tablet or laptop. If anything else needs to be open we want the tablet or laptop to ask for an admin password .

Is something like this possible and how? I do know a little powershell and a little excel, so i think i can make the sheet, but not how to be it the only thing to be allowed to be open.

    Thanks in advance,

    With kind regards,

Missing function like data validation function in excel sheet accessed in SkyDrive

    Hi niharbiswas,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forum. I'm here to assist you. I'd need more information from you for investigation. Please answer the following:

    • Where are you opening the excel sheet? Is it on your phone's browser or on the SkyDrive app?
    • What is your phone exact model, OS and OS version?
    • Does the problem happen on all your excel sheets including files uploaded from a computer and newly created ones?
    • Does the problem happen if you access the excel sheet on the Excel client a computer?
We look forward to your reply.

Note: Some functions and features in Office are not available for Office Web Apps access. This includes data validation function.

    Thank you!

  3. Excel shortcut to open to specific sheet

Have you googled "Open excel workbook on specific sheet"? Couple of examples.

Seems you have to have macros enabled which is a security risk.

One such example which even allows you to target cell.

Easy steps to open an Excel workbook to a specific worksheet

    I have not tried.

    • In Type the Cell reference write the Cell address which you want to
