    Hello,

I am trying to open a PWI file on my PC. I have tried to open it using word and I keep getting a long string of characters along with what I scan/type.(see below). Can someone please assist me with getting this opened on my PC without the symbols?

Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list

Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

How to open pwi file from handheld computer(Scanner) on PC with Windows 10 and word 365

    .pwi file

I don't use Outlook, no longer have my Windows Mobile 6.5 HTC Touch Pro 2 Phone (gave up and sold it as WM was really slow), and had backed up my notes (.pwi files) to Microsoft MyPhone. From there, I chose Download to PC for each .pwi file. On my laptop
with MS Office 2007 installed, a window telling you that the file needs to be opened using the InkWriter/Note Taker text converter popped up. I have to assume the converter was built into the Office 2007 install, since I didn't go searching for this converter.
Once the file opened in Word, I saved it as a .txt file and that was that. Repeated the process for all my .pwi files. One puzzling thing is that, I have the same installation of Office 2007 on different computers in the house, and NOT ALL of the Word 2007
applications automatically pop up a window to convert the .pwi file. I don't understand why. Hope this helps.
