How to open url:microsoft-edge with for example Firefox?

    Whereas,

    A. Firefox is set as my default browser.

    B. Edge still opens when using Cortana / the search bar in the lower right of the default Windows 10 graphic interface.

    C. It opens because of the prefix to the URL argument, e.g. "microsoft-edge:http://example.com".

    D. Whereas in Settings>Choose Default Apps by Protocol at the bottom of "choose Default Apps", URL:microsoft-edge is set to open with the Microsoft Edge Browser, and I don't know how to choose firefox. That option doesn't seem to be there, but in theory it ought to be. They let you find another app in the microsoft store.

I would like to know how to choose Firefox not as my default browser, which it already is, but for my default app for the URL:microsoft-edge protocol.

Is this possible? If not why not? I just learned about Edge-Deflector and I'm going to install that, but it seems like that shouldn't be necessary, if I can link firefox with the protocl somehow.

    :)

  2. Microsoft Edge blocking Firefox

You don't really need to 'nuke' edge to install firefox.

You can get it installed and made default in 3 easy steps

    1. Download the latest firefox here
    2. Start firefox - it should prompt you to set it as default - Follow what happens, and pick firefox as your default
    3. Else, Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs (use win r or paste that into explorer. Find firefox, and select "set as default"

That should make firefox your default and not fire up edge automatically.

  3. Can't import favorites from firefox to edge.

    Hi:

Disclaimer: I do not use Edge.

However, it looks as if the blue text to which your arrow points is a link -- did you try to click it?
I expect it would open some sort of drop-down or other menu from which to select Firefox as the source of the "bookmarks" (they are called bookmarks in Firefox)?
Then one would proceed to the next step, Step 5 (shown at the bottom of your screen shot): "Select Firefox from the list and then click "Import Button"".

There's also this tutorial -- perhaps it will help:

Let us know how it goes,
