How to permanently disable "Restart to finish update prompt"?

    Hi Everyone,

I am currently on version 1909 and my computer has failed to update to version 2004 multiple times. It is running on Windows 10 Home.

A bit of background info: I added an SSD to my Acer Swift SF113-31 last year and migrated the operating system to that SSD. The original hard drive is still inside this computer, along with the left over files of the OS keeping the OS there just in case. The windows update feature had been working fine until this summer when it first attempted to update to version 2004. Somehow windows update decided it was a good idea to change my boot order back to the original hard drive. The computer would then boot and I would be back to the OS exactly the point prior to the system migration. I don't know why windows update would change my bios settings but I would have to enter my bios to change the boot order back to the new SSD. And then after starting up the system again, I would get a message that says the last update attempt had failed.

This same cycle repeated a few times and I am sick of it.

I would like it to either update successfully or stop bothering me everyday and wasting my time on an update that's going to fail.

I've also turned off notifications for windows update but I am still getting this stupid message.

    Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

    :)

    disable driver signature enforcement

    Hi Barbara,

To resolve this issue, let's use the command prompt to disable driver signature enforcement permanently on your computer. To disable, follow the steps below:

    • Click the Start button.
    • On the search bar, type Command Prompt and then right-click
      Command Prompt
      in the results.
    • Select Run as Administrator, and then select Yes.
    • On the command prompt, enter bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on and press
      Enter.
    • Restart your computer.

Note: Doing this step will disable driver signature enforcement permanently and will make your computer vulnerable to driver issues.

Keep us updated with the results.

How do I PERMANENTLY disable Window Ink for Windows 10 Pro 1803

I tried it, and after restarting the changes I made to these services persisted, but the "Use Windows Ink" box checked itself again... I tried unchecking it and restarting again for a double check, no effect :/

    Still, thanks for the suggestion.

How to disable Airplane mode permanently on Windows 10?

    Hi Hunky,

As you are facing issues with turning on or off Airplane on your device, do not worry we will help you with this issue.

Do let us know if you have made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?

The option you are looking for to permanently disable Airplane mode is unfortunately not available.

Let us try few of the below troubleshooting steps to disable Airplane mode and check if it helps.

Step 1: To turn off Airplane mode from Settings and check.

    • Press Windows key, click on Settings
      from the left pane.
    • Click on Network & Internet.
    • Under Airplane mode turn it off and check.

Step 2: To Turn On or Off Airplane Mode in Network Notification Area Icon

    • Click on the Network icon in the taskbar notification area.

    • Click on the Airplane mode button to toggle on or off.

Step 3: To Turn On or Off Airplane Mode in Action Center

    • Open Action Center by clicking Windows + A keys from keyboard.

    • Click on the Airplane mode quick action button to toggle on or off.

If the settings are not refining, this issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ missing system files.

Step 4: I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a
Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Right click on the Start button, click on
      Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
      Enter.
    • After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with updated status of disabling the Airplane mode for further assistance.

    Thank you.
