Max Processor State in Power Management to reduce Laptop Heating

I have a brand new HP Omen with Windows 10 coupled with an Intel Core i5 9300H and 8GB RAM. It is heating when I play CPU intensive games and when I check for suggestions in the Microsoft Community, I got to know that reducing the Max Processor State in
the Advanced Power Options reduces the Heat caused by the laptops. I had just set mine to 97% (while plugged in) and 90% (while on battery) and the heating is comparatively lesser by at least 7°-10° Celsius.

However, it wasn't clear enough for me, wherein if I reduce the Max Processor state from the default 100%, will it affect the Life of my Laptop and/or its Components in the Long-Term?

Which processor is better for my computer?

First you need to understand that statistically speaking an 8 year old laptop is a very senior citizen. Not many last that long.

Assuming you have a clean system inside, and that the fan is still working correctly.......

My first suspicion would be that the heat paste between the processor and the heat synch has dried up. You can buy a small tube of it for likely $10 or so. Remove the heat synch, very, very carefully clean the surface of the heat synch and the processor
with a cotton tip dipped in alcohol. Apply a very small amount of paste to one surface. Press the heat synch back down to spread the paste evenly. Then lift if back off. There should be no bare spots, and no paste oozing out. You need to be very careful
to apply just the right amount.

Changing processors in a laptop is dangerous because the unit was designed for a specific heat management profile.

To rate processors, simply Google "cpu performance" and the name of the processor. That will lead you to the CPU benchmark listing.

Generally speaking, higher frequency = higher heat output. Over-clocking is just what it says -- OVER. That means the system was not designed for that.

Best way to improve performance is to replace the hard drive with a newer 7200 rpm one and re-install Windows.
