Windows 10: How to prevent stretching Game's resolution in 4:3 to 16:9?

I have a 16:9 monitor (1366x768) but when I try to change the resolution of Outlast to 4:3 (1024x576) it gets stretched to full display, kind of too wide.


So, I would like to play it at 4:3 along with Black Bars on the sides. I used to know a method to do this using the windows registry editor, but now I seem to have forgotten it.


Kindly help me out to remove the stretching of the game and to fit it in 4:3 on my 16:9 monitor.

4:3 stretched to 16:9 on a 21:9 monitor.

Is there any way to play a game on Fullscreen while not having the native resolution?

My problem is that I would want to play at 1920x1080 (16:9) on my 2560x1080 (21:9) monitor. That's all good. I can change the resolution inside Windows or change it in NVIDIA Control Panel so I have black bars on the sides. I want to play on 1400x1050 stretched
to 1920x1080. Thats fine too IF I play on a monitor with that resolution. But I would want to play on my 21:9 monitor downscaled to 16:9 with black bars while having the 1400x1050 streched TO 16:9. The problem is that when I open the game
the resolution resets to the native and statches to that so It's 1400x1050 stratched to 2560x1080 instead of streatched to 1920x1080.

I find it very difficult to explain what I would want to do so here is a graph.

Cs:go 4:3 resolution problem

Hi, I have a problem with resolutin in counter strike global offensive! I want to say that yesterday I installed the windows 10. In windows 7 i didn t have problems.

I also did exactly the same steps in changing of resolution from 16:9 to 4:3 stretched on windows 10 like on windows 7! But on windows 10 i have black barrs. I tried a lot of tutoriaals and forums but no result.

I have same driver and same settings but did n works.

Please help.

 

16:9 , 16:10 or HDTV??

The reason why 16:10 is prefered over 16:9 on computers is because 4:3 fits perfectly into 16:10.

e.g.
1920x1200 (16:10) = 1600x1200 (4:3)

1600x1200 is a very common resolution for CRTs including old games and old fullscreen applications. It sticks two black bars on the side and it looks just as it would on a 20+" CRT.

1920x1080 (16:9) = 1440x1080 (4:3)

Ever seen a resolution of 1440x1080 in a game or any software for that matter?
