  1. How to remove a passkey when one wasn't set up

I'm being asked to enter my passkey when linking up my husbands Computer with my laptop to use Microsoft word and it's asking for a passkey. I have not set one up and when i go into the security settings to turn it off it doesn't even come up with an option to turn it off like I've seen online. It's becoming really frustrating as what I thought would be easier to do on a computer has now took me 1hour of messing and still not sorted it.I have tried resetting my account and logging out of everything, it also doesn't give me the option to turn off Windows Hello. Please help before I throw this

    :)

Disable "iPhone, iPad, or Android device" option for Passkey Sign-in

Ok, so it is not that you already have that set up and have scanned the QR code using your mobile device, but you've been using security key instead, and now this pop up creates an extra step for you, because you have to click the security key option manually, is that right?

In that case, then no, the website will not be listed in the passkey section. And also there's no way to default the security key over the passkey. I am afraid this is something that will have to go to Feedback hub (Windows +F).

  3. "Something went wrong. There was a problem signing in with your passkey"

    Hello Dimitris,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you're experiencing a problem with the Passkey feature for Apple services. Passkeys are a more secure replacement for passwords, designed to prevent phishing and make signing in easier and safer. Your issue might be stemming from several potential causes. Here's what you can consider:

    1. Update Your Devices: Ensure all your devices are updated to the latest versions of their operating systems. Sometimes, compatibility issues can cause problems with new features like Passkeys.
    2. Browser Compatibility: Check if your browser supports Passkeys. While most modern browsers do, ensuring you're using a compatible and updated browser is crucial.
    3. iCloud Keychain: Passkeys require iCloud Keychain to be enabled. Verify that iCloud Keychain is turned on in your iCloud settings.
    4. Sign-in Settings: Go to your Apple ID settings and review your Passkey settings. Ensure that Passkeys are set up correctly and that your device is authorized.
    5. Network Issues: Sometimes, network problems can interfere with authentication processes. Try switching networks or resetting your network settings.
    6. Restart Your Device: A simple restart can sometimes resolve unexpected glitches, including issues with Passkeys.
    7. Apple Support: If the problem persists, contacting Apple Support directly might be the best course of action. They can provide more targeted assistance, especially if there's a specific issue with your account or device.
Before reaching out to Apple Support, gather any error messages or codes you've received, as these can help diagnose the problem more effectively. Apple's support team is well-equipped to handle such issues and can guide you through more advanced troubleshooting steps if needed.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps resolve the issue you're facing with signing in using your Passkey.

If there is anything not clear or I can't understand your problem, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards

How to remove a passkey when one wasn't set up

How to restore missing passkey in Windows 11

Hi Andreas, I am , a fellow Microsoft user like you.

I understand your frustration, and I'm here to help. You mentioned you're using Windows 11 24H2, are you using the Insider build or the new Copilot+ PC device?

This information will help me suggest possible steps without needing to perform a clean installation of Windows 11.

In the meantime about restoring Passkeys. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to restore missing passkeys from Settings, and there's no current option to back them up or restore them. You can visit sites like Google or Adobe again, and they should prompt you to create a new passkey if it’s missing from your Windows Settings app.

Since you can't access the Passkeys section in the Settings app and running SFC and DISM didn’t help, you might consider performing an InPlace Upgrade or Repair Upgrade depending on your current build. Please let me know the answer to my question above so I can guide you further.

    Kind regards,
