Windows 10: how to reverse Windows properties' scan and fix on a USB. Maybe Microsoft has a reverse tool?

Problem> Initially, USB in one folder showed listing of files with dates from the 1980s - indication of a problem. Did not tried clicking to see if goes into files. > Tried Windows 10 properties' scan and fix on the USB. > The result was that folder became a file. Found 2 other folders that worked before became a file each.

Mouse properties are reversed on Windows 10.

From the above issue, I understand the mouse pointer properties are reversed on the computer.



Before assisting further, did you make any system/device properties changes prior to the issue?

You may be facing the above issue due to the non-updated or incompatible device drivers installed on the computer. Presence of non-updated or incompatible device drivers in the PC will result in irregular performance of the device.



Method 1: Running the troubleshooter will help in detecting and identifying the issue and in certain cases will fix to enhance the performance of the system.
I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type troubleshooter and select the top most search result.
• Click on View all from left side panel of the screen.
• Select Hardware and Devices, click on Advanced
  option and check Apply repairs automatically option.
• Follow the on screen instructions and wait for the troubleshooting to complete.
• Close the window after troubleshooting is completed and check for the status shown on the window.

Method 2: If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the device driver from
Device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Window logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Device manager option.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices on the window.
• Right click on the driver and select Uninstall from the context menu.
• Follow the on-screen instruction and wait till the update is complete.
• After the update is complete, close the window and check if the changes are effective.

Reversing Scroll on TouchPad

After the latest Windows update my touchpad has been stuck in reverse scroll. I would like to disable the reverse scroll, but am unable to. Going through windows settings does not even give me the option to disable/enable the reverse scroll on my touchpad.
So far the only dummy fix that I could do was roll back the driver and manually disable the reverse scroll through the mouse properties - even then I have issues as I have to disable the reverse scroll every time I start up my PC. Please help fix as I am extremely
frustrated and I will willingly provide more information as necessary.

 

Reversible USB - Type C

They could use two retractable connector plates within USB connector, where always only one can retract and "move away" from the other side connector. This way you can keep the compatibility and also make it reversible. However it makes the retractable connector a bit more prone to mechanical failure and of course a bit more complex. But it would be reversible and backward compatible.
