    How to stop auto-converting kana to kanji in IME Japanese


    I'm using Windows 10 Home and whenever I try to type kana use Microsoft IME Japanese, it automatically wants to convert it to kanji. Even if I select the hiragana option from the pop-up list it gives me, it will revert this to kanji as soon as I start typing the next word. I've read that I need to turn of live conversion in the preferences, but there is no option for live conversion in any of the tabs of my Microsoft IME settings. There is an option for predictive input, but this is already turned off.

    Japanese IME kanji guessing

    Whenever I use the Microsoft Japanese IME keyboard, it has a little text window where it offers suggestions for what kanji to use. I'd like to turn it off, because I need to study the words in hiragana. Any advice would be great.

    Since you have an issue with converting Japanese languages typed from Hiragana to Kanji, we suggest uninstalling/reinstalling the Japanese language pack. You may download the Japanese language using the Language Control Panel.

    I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise.

    The language pack was installed with the keyboard when I installed it in the settings. I don't know if that answers your question, sorry.

    It's the regular keyboard that you can install in the language settings. After I have switched to the Japanese keyboards it shows me a preview or selection of possible kanji for the word that I have typed. Pressing space converts it into Kanji (starting
    from the top one in the list of possible kanji). I did not install anything beside the keyboard.
