Windows 10: How to stop news & interest from running in background?

Why is news and interest still running in the background even though I have disabled it from the Taskbarin the screenshot is currently running in eco mode but that's not always the case

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
• Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
  
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.

Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
the background.

Apps running in Background

Hi JonBlann,

Windows 10 allows some apps to run in the background even if you never open it. This would let the applications to update itself or to get you notified with what's new with the app. However, this would consume most of your battery, bandwidth, and system
resources.

You can refer to the steps below on how to disable apps from running in the background:

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Background apps.
   
2. Under Background apps, toggle off the Let apps run in the background switch to disable all apps that come from Microsoft Store. If you want to disable only a specific app, then you can toggle off the switch next to the
   app under Choose which app can run in the background.

Stop windows 10 to automatically update to new build 1709 in the background

for these options to be available in version 1511. To do this, simply refer to the steps below:

• Select Add
  new feedback
  next to the search bar.
• Tell us whether you’re sending a problem or suggestion.
• In the Summarize your issue
  box, provide a concise but clear title for your problem or suggestion.
• In the Give us more detail (optional)box, you can give us more specific
  information, like how you encountered the problem.
• Select a category that corresponds to your feedback. For example, if your printer stopped working, you’d select
  Hardware, Devices, and Drivers.
• Select a subcategory—like

• (Optional) Step through the problem while capturing the steps so we can see what happened.

• Select Recreate the problem (recommended).
• Select the type of problem you’re

• Do the steps that led to the problem.
• When you’ve completed the steps, select
  Stop capture.

8. (Optional) Send a screenshot to help show the problem.

9. Go to where the problem happened, press the
Windows logo key
+ Print screen
to take a picture of your screen.

10. Select Attach a screenshot, go to the Pictures/Screenshots folder,
select the screenshot you want to send, and then press Enter.

11. When you’re satisfied with your feedback, select
Submit.
