Windows 10: How to stop Windows 10 auto update?

Thanks to Microsoft's auto update system, A LOT of people lost over 300 hours worth of work on a server I own and run. I left for the store and come back 15 minutes later to my desktop on the startup screen where I needed to enter my username and password. Thanks to this horrid system, a few of my best players decided to quit because this is NOT the first time its happened. I've lost others as well thanks to this. Can I just be able to run servers and go to the store WITHOUT my computer decided to auto update and ruin EVERYONE'S progress.


If you must know, the server's I run are for ARK: Survival Evolved and modded Minecraft (All The Mods 3 being the largest). Both of which became corrupted and now need a clean install through Steam CMD. The ARK server just doesn't start up and the logs are stating that it can't load an area and may be corrupted, wasn't a problem BEFORE the auto update. Same goes to the Minecraft, not only does the world crash on startup, it FLOODS the logs with it not able to recognize or load chunks.


I would say the computer turned off but if that was the case, why was it on the startup screen? No one else was in the house when I left for 15 minutes. So thank you Microsoft for ruining multiple servers and causing me to lose valuable players as well as hundreds of hours of progress.


Is there any stop to the updates? Can we get the option to not update? If people are willing to risk being unsafe and not using your awful store for a few days before they can manually update that would be GREAT. I've NEVER had this problem on Linux or Windows 8.1.

That doesn't stop windows update from grabbing them on next run, at least it didn't back in the RTM days. It simply stops a secondary process from installing them immediately.
