Windows 10: How to stop windows 10 from automatically restarting to update when pc is idle?.

This is a very annoying feature, I generally leave my PC on at night and when there's an update that needs a restart then windows restarts automatically when the PC is idle even though I left it on to download things... How can I disable that? or at least make it stop restarting when a download is ongoing.

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

Does windows update automatically restart your pc when idle ?

Yes. By default updates are installed automatically. If a restart is required to complete installing an update the PC will restart automatically outside your Active Hours. When a download has installed and requires a restart to finish the install you have the option to schedule the restart for a time of your choosing, up to three days ahead. NB: this option is greyed out until an update actually needs a restart.
