Windows 10: How to unbind .log file with "Text Document" while still set notepad as open program?

In explorer, both .txt and .log are sort as "Text Document", making you unable to distinguish them when sorting by "Type". If you set the open program of .log to any program other than notepad, then they can be distinguished in explorer. However, for other file extensions like .log2, you are able to distinguish it with .txt while still setting open with notepad. By checking Registry Editor, I found that HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1088811617-365832381-2661095228-1001\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.log\UserChoice\ProgId are set to AppX4ztfk9wxr86nxmzzq47px0nh0e58b8fw, whil

Text Document or Notepad - Right click on desktop

Hello

Earlier I was able to get a Text Document on my desktop but now I cannot

So earlier I used to follow these steps to get Text Document on my desktop

Step 1 : Right click on desktop

Step 2 : Cursor or mouse on New which has a arrow and then a menu pops out which has the option of creating Text Document on desktop and once you click on Text Document a notepad would appear on desktop

But now that option is missing

 

Notepad is not read document.

What is the exact error you are seeing when you try to open a document in Notepad and where is that document located on your PC?

Can you open Notepad form its application shortcut, not by opening a file?
