Windows 10: How to Unlock a Device Locked Using Find my Device in the Microsoft Account

I have a Windows 11 laptop. I inadvertently locked the laptop when I logged into my Microsoft Account and it showed the device was located in a different part of the Country from where I am located. After locking the device, I realized it was my personal laptop in my possession, not where it was shown to be on the map. I am now trying to unlock it but cannot locate anywhere in my online Microsoft Account where to do so. My user pin and fingerprint aren't being recognized. Can anyone help?

If you've accidentally locked your laptop via your Microsoft account and you're not seeing an "Unlock" option, here are the steps to unlock your device:

1. Physical Access: Go to your locked laptop. You'll need physical access to your laptop to unlock it.
   
2. Login Screen: At the login screen, you'll need to enter the password for the Microsoft account that the laptop is linked to. If you have changed your Microsoft account password recently, ensure you're using the latest one.
   
3. Reset Password: If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it. From the sign-in screen on your laptop, select 'I forgot my password' and follow the prompts. You'll need to verify your identity and then you can enter a new password.
   
4. Two-step Verification: If you have two-step verification activated, you'll need to provide an additional security code which can be sent to your email, phone number or authenticator app.
   

After successfully entering your password (and second verification step if applicable), your laptop should be unlocked.

The lock option from Microsoft account is for temporary scenarios where you've left your device unattended and you want to make sure no one else can access it. Once you unlock it from the device itself, it should be back to normal use.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your Windows 10 device. To help you safely log in to your administrator account and avoid any potential data loss, I would suggest trying the following steps:

> Restart your device and boot into Safe Mode by pressing F8 or Shift + F8 during the startup process. This will start your device with a minimal set of drivers and services, allowing you to access your administrator account.

> Once you have accessed your administrator account in Safe Mode, you can then try to unlock your device from your Microsoft account. To do this, go to the Settings app > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. You should then be prompted to enter your Microsoft account credentials and unlock your device.

> If the above steps do not work, you may need to consider using a password reset disk or performing a system restore.
