Windows 10: how to upgrade to windows 10 without windows update?

I did & got theses. Is this correct?

Extract from my other post. I'm beginning to wonder was this just a fluke or whether the copy is going to deactivate at some future dateI-----

I had a dual boot set-up with 8.1 and 10240.

8.1 downloaded the RTM/GA. I have not upgraded this yet.

10240 downloaded only some of the files for the upgrade so I clean installed the RTM/GA from the USB created from Microsoft. This wouldn't accept my 8.1 Pro key so I skipped the two screens for Key Input. When I checked the copy it was activated. WooHoo! I had to fiddle about to get the Fast/Slow ring option.

 

cyberrufus said NOT to boot but find the setup.exe (in my case it was on the USB drive) & run that from desktop. It appears to be working.

 

Im trying this method as I have limited space so Im hoping 9gb is enough to do the upgrade.

 

I didn't upgrade first, I just clean installed and it is activated *Eek

 

Getting updates is slow. Only at 18%. This time of day our internet is slower. *Sad

 

Its not just your 'net, the MS server's are chugging to capacity.
Let it sit and do its thing.

 

Kinda figured that as well. It's improving faster now - at 60%.

I did. It rebooted & now at 18% coping files. So far, so good.

 

Looks like you're good to go. Just curious, did it ask for your key? I upgraded from 8.1 and it pulled the key from the BIOS.

 

I did the media tool way and mounted the ISO and run setup. 9gb isn't enough on the c drive but setup said it could use my d drive I presume for windows.old. Copying files now.
