Windows 10: How to use batch file to delete specific sub-folders in a folder?

TL;DR I have a folder, and in it, a new sub-folder is added every day. What commands can I add to a batch file that will keep only the three most recently added sub-folders in this folder?


Hi all. On my computer I have a folder named folder-data with several files and folders. Every day I will copy this folder, append its filename with the current date, and save it in another folder, folder-bu. So after four days, folder-bu will contain four folders:

folder-bu/ -->folder-a-200411/ -->folder-a-200412/ -->folder-a-200413/ -->folder-a-200414/

I want to create a batch file which keeps only the three most recent folders, i.e. deletes any folder inside folder-bu that was added more than three days ago. Is that possible? If so, how exactly would I approach that?

In a batch file, is it possible to check the date in which a a particular folder was added to folder-bu?

My end goal is to use Windows Scheduler to execute this batch file every day, to ensure this folder doesn't get too large.

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

Software to monitor a folder, backup, then delete?

Is there such a software that will allow the monitoring of a folder to not only backup, but also delete the data? For example, if I was to have a netbook, and it has the built-in card adapter for my camera, I can just copy all the files over to the netbook in a specific folder (ie, ::Temp Pictures), then the next time it connects to the internet/network it will search the folder for any new files, copy them over to my main PC, then delete the Temp Pictures data?

I've been looking into doing this, googling and whatnot, and it seems like there are a LOT of options for monitoring folders for updates, new data, copying, etc, but I haven't quite found one that allows you to delete after copying.

Hidden folders

I installed `Kane and Lynch` on my PC twice in Program Files(x86) folder but I can`t find them (2 folders with game). But free space on my HDD is lower. So there`re those folders on my hdd. I use option `unhide` hidden folders but still can`t find them. Any suggestions? How can i delete those hidden folders?

When I run istallation for this game I can see those folders in Program Files(x86) folde.

I`m using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
