Windows 10: How to view 2nd drive?

It's an Intel chipset, motherboard is this:

ASRock > H61M-VS

I'm now installing the drivers and will restart.

 

Well, no success after installing all the chipset drivers. Win10 still can't detect the SSD, even though BIOS does.

 

as suggested by Steve (enssenbe). Open Admin Command Prompt and type:

• diskpart
• list disk

is your SSD listed ?

 

Nope, not listed.

About half an hour ago I checked to see whether it's faulty, so ran it as a primary drive in AHCI mode. Win10 installed perfectly, in just a few minutes. So drive is fine.

 

@topgundcp, what if he installed IRST on his Mechanical drive and switched the bios to AHCI mode? Would that work?

Not sure if it helps. Normally IRST is needed if you want to set up RAID. Some claims that installing IRST will improve the performance with non RAID setup. I tried it before and it does not have any affect.

You can try to install Samsung Magician to see if it can be detected and check if the firmware is up to date.

 

IRST is Intel's Raid driver, but it also has the Intel AHCI driver in it and is the only way to get the Intel AHCI driver that I know of. The switch from IDE to AHCI is always trying to force the OS to install the AHCI drivers.

 

This is on mine, the Intel AHCI driver is IaStorA.sys

 

Tried Samsung's Magician, doesn't detect the SSD.

How would I install IRST? So far, I have downloaded the drivers, extracted them from the zip onto my desktop.

 

Would you believe it? I just uninstalled the driver in Device Manager, which automatically removed the ATA Channel, and re-scanned for hardware changes. Voila, SSD now showing up.
