Windows 10: HP 2709m Monitor resolution not working with Windows 10

After installing the latest Windows 10 version, my HP 2709m monitor is no longer compatible. The recommended resolution is stretched leaving the taskbar and desktop icons out of view. Unfortunately HP doesn't have an updated driver for it for Windows 10. I've tried everything in Display, but nothing works. Is there anything on the MS side that can help fix my monitor's resolution?

Thank you for your thoughtful answer...but I've already made all your recommended steps. The monitor is an HP 24uh. As of this morning, tho, I ran into another odd snag: the HP Support Assistant does not find/ID the monitor. Strange...since I bought it
from HP directly not an outside vendor. All drivers are the most current. No matter what I do, I end up with the basic 7 resolution options listed in the device mgmt menu.

What exactly happens when you try to change the screen resolution? Do you get any error message?



The recommended resolution on windows 10 is 1920 x 1080. Change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and check.

The reason why your display was stretched sideways is because the resolution was in-corrected.



Here are the steps to change the screen resolution:

• Right Click the Desktop and select
  Screen Resolution.
• Click the Make text and other items larger or smaller link.
• In the Change only the text size section click the
  drop down menu to select the items you want to change.
