HP Desktop Hard Drive Bad, Change

    Hello Community;

I have an HP Compaq Desktop with OS of Windows 10 Home. The hard drive DIED, I contacted the place of purchase, found out my hardware is guaranteed for one year, so I am covered. The seller is replacing with a new Hard Drive with windows 10 home, they also assured me that all I have to do is SWAP OUT THE DRIVES ????

My question is: The seller SAID that I can just change out the drive, when the new one arrives, BUT, I am I going to be ok with doing the change and will all of the drivers get reinstalled again so that my PC will operate properly. I thought the key for my original Drive is on the mother board, if this is true then how will the new drive work with the windows validation process with the new drive ??.

    Thanks For Your Information.

A concerned PC owner about this process,

    God Bless

    BEEP01

    :)

  2. How to change/remove integrity levels on hard drive?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    - Do you get any error message/code?

    - What is the make and model of your PC?

I suggest you to run check disk on the hard drive to see if there are any corruptions.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Windows key + X, click
      Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press
      ENTER:
    chkdsk /g

Disclaimer: While performing check disk on the hard drive, if any bad sectors are found then check disk will try to repair that sector. Any data available on a bad sector might
    be lost.

Once Check Disk completes, boot the computer and then check.

    Regards,

  3. Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
