Windows 10: HP laptop having problems detecting my external display connected with the USB-C

Hi people! I have an HP Spectre x360 13-apxx which I bought around 8 months ago.

I've been having issues every time I tried to connect it to an external display.


It's a matter of luck I think if the laptop detects the monitor or not. Some times after x10 attempts, magically it works till I disconnect the USB, turn off or reset my laptop. Sometimes I've tried reconnecting the cable more than 60 times with no luck.



I've tried connecting with the same cable other PCs and they work perfectly, so a problem with it is discarded.



The strange thing here is that it only happens with Windows. I installed Ubuntu cause I really need my second monitor and it works like charm. Not even one disconnection or problem. It works as it is supposed to be. The thing is I've paid Windows and as a developer I'm used to work there and have no intentions to change it. I really want to go back there, but I need my second display to work.



When I connect my cable, my HP detects it as Billboard Device, if it's for some use that info.



I've download and update every single driver I found and every single update from Windows and HP, so I don't know what else I can do, since it seems its a software issue.



I know I'm not the only one cause it seems to be a a lot of people having trouble with HP and external displays. Is there a way I could run my Windows as it's supposed to be? With my external display working as it should?

Windows 10 Not Detecting My Display

I have an HP laptop with a USB hub to which my peripherals are connected ( printer, external drive, external display, etc.) Windows 7 upgraded to 10 last night. External display isn't working. It's getting a signal as the light is green, not orange, but
when I ask Windows to detect it, it can't. Any suggestions? Thanks.

 

USB-C to Display port

Do all USB-C ports support display port? I am thinking of picking up a cheap laptop but want to be able to connect two additional displays if needed. The laptop has an HDMI and a USB-C Gen 1. Ace Aspire R R5. thanks

 

Laptop External Monitor Problem

Thank you once again, I will explain:

• Today 10th November 2016 - After monitor eventually successfully connects to my HP laptop, in my absence when the laptop/monitor powers off, I get NO re-connection problems during the day
• Tomorrow 11th November 2016 - After laptop and monitor has been restarted following, shut-down, power offs(laptop + monitor) I will be stuck once again with exactly the same problem

In my display settings each morning, my HP laptop shows it is connected to my external monitor, however there is no display on the external monitor for a vast amount of time, just randomly suddenly appears.?
