Windows 10: HP Laptop restores Factory Settings at EVERY update!!

Whenever there is an update for Microsoft, my system resets itself to factory settings and the "Let's Get Started" page displays upon restart. I think the long term answer is going to be a Chromebook or Mac judging by the lack of answers and support for users with similar experiences. I did not see much in the similar threads about any answer to solve, just OS questions from support that are not really understood or even answered. This is too common a problem to be "fake" and maybe a trojan virus that interrupts the update is on everyone's system.
