Windows 10: HP LaserJet 4050 Series

Have one of the old HP LaserJet 4050 Series that works great. I am running MS Window 10 but I cannot get the driver to install successfully. Error code, "Printer Driver was not installed." Neither can the test page print.

Tried adding the printer with static IP address - still cannot work. Please help if you can.

I am able to add the printer to 2 other machines running MS window 7.

HP Laserjet 4050 TN printer driver

I have an HP Laserjet 4050 TN printer. It has worked perfectly with my older Windows 98 system. Now, I have a Windows 7 system. Connected the parallel cord to an extension to the computer. Added a printer, using the HP Laserjet 4050 driver, error message,
not installed properly, need advice.

Hello. I am having the same problem as well. My HP 4050 laserjet printer has been rendered useless after the Windows 10 upgrades in November/December 2015 timeframe. I did what was suggested in the previous postings....it did not help. The error
message is: "the hp 4050 laserjet printer is in an error state". I ran the problem fix as well, and it said it fixed it....basically making the 4050 my default printer....that didn't work either.

Please help.

I first notice this (Hewlett-Packard driver update for HP LaserJet Professional CP1020 Series) in the list of needed updates months ago, HP Support lists no updates for this printer in the past couple of years. When I click on More information, I end up
at this dead end:
