Windows 10: HP OfficeJet 8610 Requires Admin Privileges to Print (W10 Pro)

Suggestion only :
Create another user account with exactly the same privileges as the current on > logon to it > see if the same problem persists.
If not, use this new account for a few days. If no issue, go back to you old account > backup files you want to keep > then delete the old account. I would assume that this old account is corrupted.

I have a HP 8610 and had the exact problem you describe. Although my solution involved using the fix described in this post because I reassigned my Windows temp files to another drive on my computer, perhaps the general idea of insuring you have allowed full permissions to Windows temporary files where ever they exist is still something you should consider.

 

Wow. Thanks for following up in this thread and posting that. You've solved the problem! The weird thing is that I never changed the location of my Temp directory. It's still located in the default spot (...AppData/Local/Temp)

Based on another post in the thread you linked to, I changed the permissions of the temp folder so "Authenticated Users" had Full Access and made sure to replace permissions on child objects just to be sure.

Sure enough, once I did this, I was able to print from programs like Word and Excel without Admin privileges.

Thanks again for this. I had chalked it up to one of those quirks I would just have to deal with.

 

You're welcome. Frankly, I almost didn't post because I saw you started this thread in mid-March. I figured you might have moved on by now. Nevertheless, I did it thinking that the solution might help others. From your response time, I can tell that you're all over this. It's nice to know that the answer helped the original poster even though it was nearly six months later.
