Windows 10: Hp Officejet Pro 8600 Premium. Scanner not working.

Posting here because I do not see a forum for printers. Cannot scan from printer or pc. I have the windows 10 drivers from hp installed and device manager detects all hp printer drivers. Any one else have this issue, and or solution.

scanner not compatible/working

My printer scanner is an HP Officejet Pro 8600....since I upgraded to Windows 10 the scanner has stopped working although the printer works fine. When I click on scanner the message is 'The HP Officejet Pro 8600 was not found'. I have tried a number of
different strategies through settings, printers/devices etc to solve this problem but so far no luck. Any suggestions out there?

 

The drivers needed for scanning will appear in the imaging devices section of Device manager. You need to check that you have the scan drivers installed and showing up in there.

Just checked, only the webcam is listed.

If the scanner was turned on and no scanner driver shows up in Device Manager then you need to reinstall the drivers. There is the option of doing this for just the basic drivers or the full set of software to run your all-in-one device.

Is the scanner new? Has it worked previously?

 

It's 3 years old worked with windows 7, 8, 8.1

Ok, I'm at a loss now. Are you using the HP scanning software? Are you connecting to the computer via a USB connection or using it via a wireless network?

 

Just got it fixed. Downloaded hp scan and capture app from ms store. This resovled the problem.

I just last night installed via network (ethernet) to my router on a new OEM Win10-Pro/64-bit system my HP 8600 Premium AIO. (This is an OEM Win10 system, not an upgrade.)

All I needed to do was d/l and run the latest Win10-compatible drivers from the HP site (release date Nov 2015).
It took all of 5 minutes (maybe less), with no muss or fuss.
Everything worked and continues to work just fine, both on the Win10 box AND on my two existing Win7 boxes: copy, fax, print and SCAN.

I did not need to install any additional apps from the MS App Store or from HP.
I wonder what the difference may be between our Win10 systems??
(I am using only a local account, but I doubt that matters?)
Did you install the full package (~118 MB, including bloatware) or just the "basic drivers"?

Just curious, in case I run into snags later....*Wink

First I installed the basic drivers, then I downloaded the full package. Niether worked, but the hp scan and capture app did the trick. Btw there still is no scanner listed in device manager under imaging devices?
