  1. HP Stream and Windows and Ubuntu

Hello! I have an HP Stream and it had Windows 10 installed. The owner of the laptop wanted me to reset it to factory settings. When I tried, I got a message telling me there was not enough room, to go make room and try again. I uninstalled all 3rd party apps and tried again. Still got the message. I uninstalled Microsoft games and tried again. Still got the message. I deleted and uninstalled until I was down to just Windows 10, knowing I was going to reset it and clean the whole thing. Still got the message. It said it still needed 3 gb and I was at a loss on where I was going to get it.

During my frenzied deleting session, I must have deleted something important. :/ It would not boot on its' own. So, I have Xtra-PC and had yet to try it so I did. It worked however, it has Linux programming, which I am not familiar with.

I went to the Microsoft website on my computer and downloaded the Media Creation Tool to an external drive. Once that was done I changed the boot order in the BIOS of the Stream and it booted to the setup portion of Windows. However, I didn't get far. I get a message saying the partitions on the Stream are GPT or something like that, and Windows couldn't load. I couldn't format the partitions from there. I tried going in with a command prompt and couldn't figure out what parameters were needed to format. After messing around with the BIOS some more, I went back into the setup of Windows and this time I was allowed to format the partitions. I formatted the primary one. When I hit next to go on, it said the format was done with FAT 32 and it has to be NTSF so why didn't it give me an option of which system to use? Anyway, that's when I went into DOS with a command prompt and tried to format it from there. But I couldn't because of the parameters.

Then I read where I could go to where the ISO is and right click on it and mount it and what not. But I guess what I downloaded was not the ISO but something else. There is no ISO file. So, I decided to try to start the program from the setup.exe file in the stuff I downloaded. Remember, the only way I was able to actually get into the laptop was with the Xtra-PC. Apparently Ubuntu doesn't play well with exe files.

I have tried repairing the laptop. I have tried system restore and then recovery. I keep hitting a brick wall with everything I do. I think I need to know how to convert the partition to the correct format, the MBR or whatever, and which partition do I use? I have a primary, a recovery, and one other one when I attempt to install Windows through the Media Creation. When I went in with the command prompt, it only showed me 2 disks through diskpart and when I tried to convert either one, it said virtual disks were not convertible. Why did it not show me the hard drive of the Stream?

If someone can tell me an easier way to go about all of this, I am all ears.

    Thank you!

    :)

Networking issue - Windows and Ubuntu

Went on a short trip, took my Windows 10 laptop, turned off the Ubuntu computer and my wife's Windows 10 computer. When I returned, I turned everything back on and nether Windows computer could see the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS computer. On the Ubuntu computer, Files/Network clicking on Windows Network received "Unable to access location - Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory" error. Both Windows computers were able to use the Ubuntu before the trip.

    Any suggestions?
