Windows 10: hp z230 pci serial and usb virtual com5 drivers gone

i have a hpz230 with pci serial port and usb virtual com 5 port driver problems i had a communication error to but downloaded the wrong driver helped that one driver tho

needing PCI Serial Port driver for non supported HP

Have "HP Compaq 6000 pro SFF" with a "Intel Core" processor running win. 8.1..the manufacturer has no support and I need a driver for the PCI Serial Port. An Error 28 saying "driver not installed". along with getting statement "Driver not available" when
trying to UPDATE the driver.

I deeply appreciate help offered..Bought the machine used and worked fine for over a year until a statement demanding "Register Windows" started appearing. Therefore "Widows Update" is not working either....Thanks in advance for your suggestions.,...

PCI Serial port driver.

If your computer came with a serial port built into it (pretty rare these days), go to the support site of your computer's manufacturer, enter the identifying information about your specific model (probably the serial number), and look for the driver for
the serial port.

If you have difficulty doing the above, please provide the make and model of your computer (and its serial number).

If you installed an add-on PCI card for the serial port, what is the make and model of that PCI card?

Otherwise, right-click on that entry in Device Manager and select the "Details" tab.

Select "Hardware Ids" in the drop-down list under "Property"

Copy the first line in the "Values" box and paste into a Google search.

If you get no hits when searching for the entire first line, search only for the VEN/DEV information.

Using the screenshot below as an example:

Search for PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_10B4&SUBSYS_9300141D&REV_89

If no hits, search for PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_10B4

Alternatively, you can use one of these PCI VEN/DEV databases:

Find unknown devices using a vendor and device ID. | Device Hunt

Once you know the manufacturer and model of the serial port, you should be able to find the driver for it. If at all possible, avoid third-party driver download sites. Look for the website of the device manufacturer.

Yes, you may need to install a serial to USB driver on your computer in order for it to recognize the device. Here are some steps that may help:

• Make sure that the serial to USB cable is connected properly between the modbus slave device and your computer.
  
• Go to the website of the manufacturer of the cable and look for the driver download page. Download the driver that corresponds to your operating system.
  
• Once the driver is downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  
• After the installation is complete, restart your computer.
  
• Open Device Manager by searching for it in the Start Menu.
  
• Look for the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section and expand it.
  
• Your serial to USB device should be listed here with a COM port number assigned to it.
  

If you do not see the device listed after installing the driver, try unplugging and plugging the cable back in or using a different USB port on your computer. If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer of the cable for further assistance.
